Nicole Elaine Avery is a Jamaican-American artist, international award-winning author, award-winning educator, and performer. Her works surround the African-turned-American experience and incorporate multidisciplines. Socially, her art seeks to resist erasure of voice, historical significance, and the existence of Black human beings. Her works have shown across the United States and Brazil. The artist desires to break beyond the borders of hate, invisibility, and racism.
She is a veteran educator who has served both rural and urban communities, facilitating adults and youngsters pre-k through twelfth in curricula ranging from art, literature, and core subjects to ESL. She has also taught dance, drama and physical education.
Her research engages others having them consider the fragility of the Black female among the contemporary convolution of America, and beyond, given historical/religious constructs of the Black female body.

Following a reduction-in-force with LAUSD in Wilmington, California Dr. Avery began coining her very first novel based loosely on her zany experiences as a baseball vendor. The Bronx tale follows Nyla, a foster-kid, who navigates through love, loss, and life. As she attempts to escape her abusive foster home by becoming a professional baseball vendor in her local Bronx community, she becomes engulfed in a world of corruption, unbidden sex, and murder. It is a page turner for sure. It is the first edition of a trilogy entitled The Bronx Drama Series.
